hello there
This is an incredibly interesting topic. And moderators sure know it. Because from the beginning, it stresses the critical points of the Eve experience.
I finally decided to add my two cents when I read Petra's posts. I am so relieved when I can read someone with interesting and conscious arguments. Arguments that point slightly farther than the tip of the nose.
I've been playing for four months, and I'm a carebear, I think, because I don't really share that winner attitude wich seems to be so often coinciding with Trolley arguments like "go back to wow" and the many variations. After four month I've been already so much fed up with that that my opinion is, now, that WOW and EVE are by so many means similar, especially because you find the same proportions of trolls who call every other people trolls. Me I prefer EVE because I like to pimp my ship
The cake is a lie. A lot of people tend to confuse the concept of freedom with the concept of harschly and mindlessly adaptating to a set of rules implicitly requiring an attitude of allout violence, moral rigidity and mercilessness. This is just like wow. The sheeps may not be the one we would have thought.
CCp intended this. Imho this is complete ideological failure. I know most of players will disagree.
The social structures and possibilities ingame are rigid, absolutely non-flexible and quite not original, based solely on the concept of corporation. And, variations absolutely similar, wich are militia, and alliances. As I said in another topic, this has the degree of social advancement of European Middle-age feudal and territorial vassalty system. Due mainly to the Shockpoints key geographical system. And combined with all the inhumanity of our post-modern capitalistic IRL corporational economy. That's why I add that Eve online is an experiment, a juicy one I would add, but fails at being an Utopia. Again, this not CCP's intent anyway. They, as their players, like Isk. But Wouldn't appreciate it to be said too loudly
Yours , Norma
